Learn About Dartmoor School of Fly Fishing School and our Instructors

Our team of fly fishing guides and instructors have more years of fly fishing experience between us than we would like to admit but we treat every day like our first on the river or lake. We get just as excited as you hook your first ever fish on a fly or if you are an experienced river fisher and have made a tricky cast and hooked a big one!

At the end of the day it is about having fun. We understand that your day with us is a days holiday and we treat it as such, making sure we pack as much in as possible but most of all that you enjoy yourself.

Our team of fly fishing instructors and guides have all passed casting and teaching qualifications something that we are all extremely proud of. Equally important is the fact that we are fly fishermen and love to be out on the water fishing!

I live for that moment when the trout has to decide will he or won't he? Fishing for me is about the challenge of working out what the fish is after on the day, if it were always easy then it would be no fun for me!

I love to fish in my "back garden" Kennick Lake, which happens to be 5 minutes down the road. I have fished Kennick Lake for over 30 years now, but each visit still gives me as much pleasure as it did when I was a boy. If I am not to be found at Kennick, then you will find me rock hopping on the Upper Dart or casting a line on the Upper Teign.

I confess I am a addict. I love casting among the boulders of Dartmoor and winkling out little Brownies from the tiniest of lies. It is true to say we are so blessed here on Dartmoor to have more wilderness fishing than you can shake a stick at!

It all started for me 15 years ago and since then I have made it my calling to learn as much as I can about the rivers on Dartmoor. My favourite must be the East Dart. You can just walk for miles without seeing another soul, each little stretch offering a fresh challenge. If heaven exists, I've found it!

Emma runs the office and is usually the first friendly voice you'll speak to. She ensures our guides are always at the right place at the right time and will make sure you get the maximum enjoyment out of your time with the fishing school.
